Attorney Mahmoud Faisal Elkhatib announced today that EV Has is no longer representing Edward Harvard Holdings in the sale of the former Motorola property in Harvard, Illinois.
EV Has was hired in January of 2020 when Edward Harvard Holdings was facing losing ownership of the property based on city of Harvard’s claims of abandonment while the city of Harvard worked in cooperation with Amadeus, the tax buyer. In addition, Amadeus purchased the unpaid taxes for $775k and Edward Harvard Holdings was facing loss of the property to a Tax deed. In both cases, Amadeus would get a windfall of a property for a minuscule fraction of its actual market value, far less than the bids that EV Has received for its sale.
In the Harvard municipal case our motion to vacate laid the foundation to invalidate the city of Harvard’s basis and arguments for abandonment and blocked the city of Harvard from moving forward with a deed.
EV Has then petitioned the tax courts and the clerks office with a flurry of petitions and motions to void the tax sale on the eve of an expiring redemption. Our actions led the clerks office to void the tax sale preventing Amadeus from taking the property for a minuscule fraction of its value.
EV Has did all this to facilitate an orderly sale of the property for its highest and best value. Although after successfully creating sufficient space to facilitate a sale of the property it became clear that despite our success we have reached the end of being able to effectively represent Edward Harvard Holding’s interests in the Harvard property. We tried to find every possible attempt to continue our representation, unfortunately there are differences pertaining to our representation in the Harvard property that could not be reconciled.
We wish our client all the best. Edward Harvard Holdings is currently represented by alternate counsel and is in good hands.
