Mr. Elkhatib is a Lawyer who started his professional career as a Chemist so many years ago. He has since migrated from the laboratory to the courtroom. Mr. Elkhatib is a commercial litigation & transactions attorney with over 26 years plus experience first as a chemist, then as a business executive and then an attorney. His primary focus areas include distressed assets, commercial and corporate transactions, real estate development, construction law, municipal building code violations, and asset protection vehicles.

Elkhatib is nicknamed “after the fact” attorney. After many other attorneys have fumbled the case, or the clients themselves have seriously tangled the matter, Elkhatib is routinely brought in to untangle and repair and resolve what many find to be unresolveable. Elkhatib’s greatest asset and specialty is handling highly complex and complicated matters that require a certain level of creativity and outside of the box thinking.

With industry backgrounds starting in consumer products, retail and professional health and beauty products that included manufacturing, marketing and distribution.

As a business executive, Elkhatib managed, built and restructured small and medium sized corporations. He is especially in tune with successfully overcoming and helping others overcome the challenges that arise from a series of singular decisions, financial hurdles and growth pains that impact businesses.

A key to Elkhatib's success comes from the understanding that legal strategy needs to be in step with the overall business strategy to be successful. He maintains absolute resolve to obtain the very best outcome for the client with maximum reward at the lowest possible overall cost. Tenacity and endurance are his cornerstones to success.

Elkhatib has participated and supported many non-profit organizations that help build communities, and support networks to empower underserved populations.

Elkhatib regularly practices in housing court since 2013; appearing at times almost daily. He manages the entire receivership process for private receivers from appointment to deed. Mr. Elkhatib has personally represented landlords, tenants, property owners and receivers throughout the housing court process and in various stages of commercial litigation. He has a deep understanding of the intricate requirements and patience needed to navigate the delicate yet highly profitable receivership process.

Elkhatib's repertoire includes active real estate development experience from hands on general contracting and working with subcontractors to take projects from identification, acquisition, through the rehabilitation and construction process to sale. He has been a part of the development of hundreds of residential and commercial properties in Chicagoland.

Elkhatib has been a recognized SuperLawyer rising star every year since 2015. He has spoken to numerous professional organizations and is a fierce advocate for black and brown homeownership.

He is a Member of the Board of Directors member for the Dearborn Realtist Board, the Black real estate trade association for Black brokers in Illinois.

Since 2017, Elkhatib has trained nearly 400 community receivers as part of a City of Chicago funded receivership training initiative to advance and reverse the real estate and economic distress found in Chicago’s south and west side neighborhoods.
